Outlook contacts can only be exported, as address which is also the part of outlook cannot be exported because of different collection of different directories that might store in outlook such as LDAP internet directories and the GAL (global address list). But contact is one of the address list included in the address book, that’s why contact can only be exported. Process to be followed for export outlook contacts to Google Gmail.
1- Open your email client outlook, on the file menu, select Import and Export.
2- Now select Export to a file, then select next.
3- In the folder list, select the contacts folder you want to export and then select next.
4- Browse the location to save your file for a temporary purpose( can be deleted after performing export outlook contacts to google gmail)
5- Select and type the name of a file to be exported and then click ok, then next.
6- To add or remove fields to determine the way the contact information is saved in the new imported file, then click on Map custom field (Map custom field button in the Export to a file dialog box might not be available when you try to import data from another program or file. In the the following actions will be performed box, select the Export check box, and then the Map Custom Fields button is available.
7- In the from box, drag the field that you want to convert onto the outlook field that is listed in the to box. (The Name field doesn’t appear in the to box, because outlook reserves the first row of a named range or field names. If the range that you import does not contain field names and will not be imported as data. To make sure that all of the data in the named range is imported, use the first row for field names.
8- Now click on finish button.
9- Login into your Gmail account and in the left column you will be finding the contacts button.
10- Now click on the import option on the right side of the screen.
11- Beneath the import contacts option, select import
12- Select the file you want to be imported.
13- Hence your file is imported.
This is the manual method but some limitation is there with respect to the security as when you will be performing this manual method, there will be the some chances of sudden shortage of light which may hamper your process.
So there is also another method to perform Export outlook contacts to Google Gmail and i.e. third party tool
Making the conversion process easy and effective, third party tool is best suited as per as time requirement. First download the third party tool and proper install it. Google Gmail take the file format of csv, so it becomes mandatory to convert the pst file format to csv. Tool easily convert the contacts into csv format.
